Jakarta. The Indonesian football team will not have a shortage of cheering supporters during the first leg of the Asean Football Federation Cup final match against Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Jalil Stadium on Dec. 26.
Aksanul Kosasih, an official with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) said he would coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to encourage Indonesian nationals in Malaysia to watch the match.
“We will cooperate with the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia to gather Indonesians living there to watch the final match in Kuala Lumpur and give their support for the team,” Kosasih was quoted as saying on Monday.
There are approximately 1,5 million Indonesians living and working in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the PSSI, Nurdin Halid, said the footballers received a combined Rp 3 billion ($ 331, 619) in bonus.
The bonus was given in cash after the team beat the Philippines 1-0 on Sunday night.
"The money was put in a big cardboard box and was carried to the players' locker room. We had promised to give them the bonus before their sweat went dry," Nurdin said.
